Hanuman Chalisa or forty verses of Chalisa is a devotionalhymn dedicated to Hanumanji or the monkey God, by the great Indian poet Tulsidas.The language of the Chalisa is in refined Avadhi language.The work consists of forty three verses, two introductory Dohas, then the forty Chalisa and one Doha at the end.
The prayer is addressed to Hanuman, who is an ardent follower of Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman is also called 'Chiranjeevi' (The Immortal) and his hymns are chanted by every Indian.
